Proman Trinidad Welcomes 67 New Trainees, Underlining its Commitment to Developing Future Energy Leaders

Point Lisas Industrial Estate, Trinidad and Tobago –  On World Youth Skills Day, Proman Trinidad, an integrated energy company and leading producer of methanol and ammonia, confirmed its long-standing commitment to maintaining Trinidad and Tobago’s position as a centre of excellence for world-class energy sector skills, with the induction of 67 new trainees into its training programmes.

Proman Trinidad’s training programmes include:

• The Graduate-in-Training Programme, which spans 18 months, equipping recent graduates with essential skills and knowledge.
• The Engineering & Maintenance Technician Trainee Programme, a comprehensive 24-month course focused on developing technical proficiency and hands-on experience in these two vital areas.
• The Process Operator Trainee Programme, which provides a 12-month curriculum to develop proficient process operators through a mix of theoretical and practical learning.
• And the annual Vacation Student Programme, which offers a 10-week opportunity for students to gain valuable industry experience to strengthen their future employment applications.

Over the past decade, these initiatives have enabled over 600 participants to enhance their professional skills, with 57% securing full-time employment with Proman, and 46% of Proman Trinidad’s current workforce originating from the programmes.

As of December 2023, 29% of Proman Trinidad’s leadership team had started as trainees, while others have gone on to lead Proman’s many energy projects around the world.

Claus Cronberger, Executive Chairman of Proman Trinidad, stated, “Investing in Trinidad and Tobago’s youth through long-term skills development is embedded in Proman’s DNA. Our training programmes are designed to equip young professionals with the skills necessary to thrive and we are proud to see so many go on and succeed.

One of Proman’s former trainees, Parbatie Rambharose, who has risen to the role of Senior Laboratory Analyst said, “Proman’s Trainee Programme provided me with the mentorship, skills and knowledge necessary to grow and excel in my career.”

And Maintenance Engineer university graduate, now full-time Proman employee, Quincy Dickson added, “the experience and always-available guidance from industry experts were pivotal in my transition from being a student and trainee to gaining full-time employment with Proman.”
