Methanol
Methanol is present in almost every aspect of our lives and is a cleaner burning pathway fuel for the energy transition
As a liquid at ambient temperature, methanol is easy to store, safe to handle, and supported by a mature global supply chain. It produces almost zero particulate matter (soot) or sulphur oxides (SOx), significantly reduces nitrogen oxides (NOx), and generates lower carbon emissions compared to diesel or fuel oil. These benefits can be further enhanced with carbon capture and blending with lower carbon or green methanol, making it a futureproof solution.
Methanol is a vital chemical used in a huge range of everyday products and is emerging as a renewable and biodegradable fuel. Uses and applications include: paints, glue adhesives, wood products and furniture; marine fuel; low-emission fuel and fuel blending; power generation; methanol to olefins (MTO); pharmaceutical products, and; automotive parts.
